Who We Are
The Aquinas Center for Theological Renewal was born out of a desire to restore Catholic theology. The Aquinas Center supports Thomistic research, writing, lecturing, and teaching. The Center also offers awards to those whose outstanding accomplishments have contributed to the promotion of Thomistic thought. In an effort to participate in the call for the New Evangelization by Pope John Paul II, the Aquinas Center endeavors to provide scholarly resources to assist in the new evangelization within the academic discipline of theology. In order to do so, the Aquinas Center seeks to develop bonds of friendship and dialogue among scholars worldwide.
The Aquinas Center encourages academic scholarship to assist the Church in her mission by demonstrating Wisdom to the world. The Center welcomes and encourages philosophers, theologians, and biblical scholars to assist in its mission.
Why Aquinas?
The Aquinas Center draws on the patrimony of the Thomistic tradition because, as a model for the contemplative life, St. Thomas Aquinas has made indispensable contributions to philosophy, theology, and biblical studies. His accomplishments in these fields have merited him the name of Angelic Doctor. The richness of the Thomistic tradition inspired the Aquinas Center to bring together philosophers and theologians who continue the legacy of St. Thomas Aquinas.
